Little son, you had so much fun this weekend at your Grandad’s birthday.  You loved being passed around and adored.  I think you have inherited your dad’s sociable nature.  You especially love being held by Grandad; you really snuggle in to his warm body and smile and coo as you hold his huge finger in your tiny hand.  He calls you “Stump” because you are such a strong, sturdy little fellow.

Little son, last night we woke up together and it was so cold — the room was dark and chilly and the city outside was silent, covered in snow and ice.  You nursed very quietly and contentedly, and we gradually made each other warm.   I held your snug little body for a long time after you fell asleep, enjoying your heavy warmth, your fuzzy sleeper and your soft breath.

Little Kai, you are just over 3 months old now!  These first few months are always a sleepless adventure, but I’m loving it still.  You’re favourite game right now is when your dad lifts you high up into the air and says “Super Baby!”  You are so strong — you hold yourself stiff as a plank and you laugh and laugh.  You have a deep, throaty laugh that seems so funny coming from such a tiny boy.

Little son, you’ve started smiling and cooing like crazy.  It gives me such joy hold you in my arms and see the happiness in your wide, sweet gray eyes.  You positively wriggle with delight.

Little son, I am so glad to have you in my arms. I forgot how much I love having a small babe at the breast.  With such busy days, I love the quiet hours we have in the middle of the night, just the two of us.  I love the soft curve of your head and the roundness of your cheek, and the way you relax in my against my body with complete fullness and contentment.
